Firelights, my condensed solo Metroidvania inspired TTRPG has been in the wild for just about a week now, and already y’all response to this release has been absolutely spectacular. Watching everyone share play through via Discord, Youtube, and even Twitter threads has been quite simply incredible.
Considering this AND the fact that the text of Firelights is open licensed, I figured it would be interesting to put in place a proper game jam.
The Firelights Jam starts on March 1st. The goal: use the free and open licensed Firelights Creator Kit to design and publish your own game Guided by Firelights.
The easiest way to get started in designing your game based on this system is to read the free Firelights Creator Kit. The kit includes the game’s SRD, design guidelines, license information, and even Guided by Firelights logos for you to include in your game.
Firelights Actual Play
If you’ve read Firelights and aren’t sure to get started, that’s ok! The game is quite condensed, and it’s totally normal not to understand all of its pieces in one go.
That being said, the amazing folks at Level 1 Adventuring have started releasing an actual play series featuring Firelights, and it is, in my opinion, the best way to learn the game right now!
In this series, Wolfe Scott plays as the last Firelight “Last Wish”, and goes through the entire game, mechanic by mechanic, live in front of you.
I definitely lost myself in the story while watching this show, and recommend it to anyone curious about how to play Firelights.
One Last Thing…
